LSC Nominated for Times Higher Education Award

The London School of Commerce, as part of the LSC Group, was again nominated for a THE (Times Higher Education) Leadership and Management Award . The College was entered in the category of ICT (Information Communication Technology) Initiative of the Year.

LSC was shortlisted for the final along with five other Universities. The nomination recognises LSC's outstanding contribution to developing 'Biometric' attendance registration. This technology records students' attendance at lectures through their fingerprint. The fingerprint is scanned using a lightweight, handheld electronic device that can be easily passed around during lectures. Once a student submits their fingerprint, the device automatically checks it against the College's database and registers the students attendance.

Monitoring an individual's participation allows the College to track student's progress throughout their studies and there is a proven correlation between course attendance and excellent academic performance rates. Furthermore, monitoring attendance is of particular importance for international student visa requirements.

LSC is a leader amongst Colleges and Universities in adopting this growing field of technology and was proud to receive official acknowledgement for its role in developing biometric registration.

LSC was also previously shortlisted in the THE Leadership and Management Awards in the category of Outstanding International Strategy.

The Times Higher Education magazine is published weekly and is regarded as the UK's leading higher education journal.
