Level 5 Entry For UK and EU Students
Apply now

Overview

University-of-Suffolk

The course is a ‘top-up’ degree and aims to build upon students’ existing health and social care / health knowledge gained during their level 4 studies. It explores contemporary practices within the Health and Well-being sector (H&WB), examining how the rapid advances in technology within the 4th industrial revolution are impacting the sector.

It also explores how the UK H&WB sector is responding to the salient global social and environmental priorities and goals, in particular for: diversity and inclusion, sustainability and achieving net zero, thus meeting the UoS 2020-30 strategy and vision objectives.

Level 5 Entry

Credit Value: 240 credits

Duration: 2 Years

The course is multidisciplinary, exploring the different disciplines included within the broad field of health studies, such as physical and mental health, health promotion and management, well-being and social care. It has a particular focus on health and well-being ‘promotion and management’, this focus being highly pertinent, as currently the H&WB sector is facing critical challenges in capacity to meet growing demand, exacerbated by staff shortages. A growing support for the H&WB sector through a focus on health promotion and prevention will overcome some of these challenges.

The course is underpinned by employability, with a focus on the application of theory and knowledge to practice, thus equipping students with the skills they need for work in the 21st century.
